Here we are again, this time for Plus9. This year's track is directly inspired by the music in the video game Animal Crossing. For me, this game was a much needed escape into my own little island fantasy world, while so much happened in the real world around me. At first, however, I didn't like the music in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It felt brash, bold, and too in my face compared to what I was used to in past iterations of the series.

With time, I came to rather enjoy the soundtrack, and have many of the songs stuck in my head -- as evidenced by Plus9. New Horizons had changed up the style of Animal Crossing music from what I was used to and expecting, and it was a bit challenging to adjust to the change. But the thing is, change is really great. It isn't often easy, and sometimes it can be very scary. But with change comes new ideas, methods, or sometimes realizations of how things should have been.

In a year of change, I've found solace in my own little sanctuary within the Nintendo Switch. After taking the time to step back from my preconceived expectations, I found a wonderful and unique soundtrack to accompany my island time. I've channeled those happy vibes into Plus9. Now, if you'll excuse me, my villager Patty is throwing me the cutest birthday party ever, and I really must get back to it.
